Pak Muslim League demands fresh elections

NEW DELHI SEPT. 5- Pakistan Muslim League President Khan Abdul Qayyum Khan has demanded dissolution of the still-born National Assembly and fresh elections on the basis of separate electorates. The Dawn reports says UNI.
Khan Abdul Qayyum Khan who is one of the main contenders for power in West Pakistan told party workers at Nowshena that the National Assembly was basically meant for constitution-making and since President Yahya Khan had taken up the task upon himself the existence of the National Assembly was meaningless.
According to him the National Assembly stood dissolved the day the majority of its members belonging to the Awami League were declared ‘traitors’ by the Government.
He also demanded a ban on political parties which opposed Pakistan. In this connection he particularly named the National Awami party (Wali Group) and the Jamait- I- Ulema (Hazarvi Group). As they had extended full support to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and demanded transfer of power to the Awami League.
