Pindi favours Iranian mediation
TEHRAN, JUNE 8.-The Iranian Foreign Minister, Mr. Zahedi returned home today after a three-day visit to Pakistan, bringing with him a special message from President Yahya Khan for the Shay says , AP.
He did not disclose the nature of the message but indicated that Pakistan favoured Iranian mediation between Pakistan and India.
A BBC report says Mr. Zahedi said Iran was prepared to lend an airliner for the repatriation of Indian and Pakistani diplomatic staff in Dacca and Calcutta.
Mr. Zahedi said at Islamabad today the “special message” for President Yahya Khan from the Shah of Iran this week dealt with the “routing exchange of views between the two Heads of State of intentional problems and bilateral relations” Radio Pakistan reported.
Mr. Zahedi indicated such consultations would be held with Turkey too, with which both Pakistan and Iran are linked in the regional cooperation or development.
Mr. Zahedi described his meeting with Gen. Yahya Khan as “satisfactory”.
