USA to ask Pakistan about relief boates

WASHINGTON, JUNE, 4.-The USA is to ask Pakistan about a newspeper photograph apparently showing military personnel using a boat similar to a type supplied for cyclone relief, reports Reuter.
A US State Department spokesman, Mr. Charles Bray, said yesterday: “About a week ago we were informed of a photograph in a Pakistan newspaper of what appeared to be military personnel in a small boat which appeared to be identical to the 50 small craft we provided last autumn for relief purposes in the (Ganges river delta) disaster area”.
The vessel was apparently being used in a area where Government forces were fithting East Bengal freedom fighters.
“We have instructed our Embassy in Islamabad to seek information with regard to where and to what purposes those craft may be employed”, Mr. Bray said.
