২৮ এপ্রিলের পাকিস্তান-পলিসি অপশন পেপারের শেষ পাতায় দেখা যায় নিক্সনের কাছে তিনটি অপশন থেকে একটি পছন্দ করতে বলা হয়েছে। এখানে ৩ নং অপশনের পাশে তিনি স্বাক্ষর করেছেন এবং সেই সাথে লিখে দিয়েছেন, “Don’t squeeze Yaya at this time”.

On 28^th April 1971, president Nixon was asked to choose the policy about the current situation in Pakistan where he had been given three options to choose from among which he selected the 3^rd option that directs to take “an effort to help Yahya achieve a negotiated settlement”. The first option was, “unqualified backing for West Pakistan” and the second option was, “neutrality which in effect leans toward the East”. In addition, he wrote, “Don’t squeeze Yaya at this time” that attempts to support few more steps whatsoever necessary.
