- Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmad urges the states of the world to acknowledge Bangladesh as an independent and sovereign state. “Bangladesh wants to keep a peaceful diplomatic relation with every state,” he says in a press conference at Bangabhaban. He assuresof making a constitution for Bangladesh and promises that it would reflect the aspiration of Bangladeshis. He says that the prime duty would be reconstructing the economy of the war-torn country and to rehabilitate the Bangladeshi refugees in India. About the disarmament of Muktibahini, the premier saysthat these people (freedom fighters) would know when to hold weapons against the military and when to concentrate on constructive activities. They will be assigned to the national militia and other nation building activities. He also added that the advisory committee made with members from different political parties would remain as it is. - A special flight of International Red Cross reaches Dhaka with emergency medicine and relief.This was the first relief-laden flight of the Red Cross that landed on independent Bangladesh.
- Police directorate release another list of arrested collaborators: Maolana Mosleh Uddin, vice president of PDB, Dr Mustafizur Rahman of Dhaka University, Fakhruddin, former minister and president of Mymensingh Muslim League, Khorshed Ahmad Khan, secretary of Mymensingh Muslim League, Dr A Hamid, treasurer of Mymensingh Muslim League, Maolana Altaf Hossain, president of Mymensingh PDP, Maolana Fayzur Rahman, president of Mymensingh Nezam-e Islam and Israil, DSP.
