- A strong team of Muktibahini fighters shell Badisa Ghat and Rajashar Dighi settlements of Pakistani soldiers in sector 2 with mortar and RRs. 26 Pakistan military men are killed and some bunkers leveled.
- Freedom fighers, led by Abdul Wahab, attack a company of Pakistan military in Comilla’s Mandabhag Bazar area. One Pakistani major and 100 other militia men are killed and some injured. Huge cache of arms and ammunition seized.
- Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, at a programme in New Delhi, bins Pakistan’s allegation regarding armed forces in the borders. She says it is the armed freedom fighters of Bangladesh who are engaged in fight with Pakistan military at the borders. She says Muktibahini had 150,000 fighters inclusive of almost 50,000 members of police, BDR and military. They are all Bangalis and joined the fight after March 25. They are fighting for their motherland.
- People’s Party chief ZA Bhutto announces that his party is ready to form alliance with any other party.
- One freedom fighter embrace martyrdom and six others gravely wounded after Pakistan military men attack them in Gourinagar under sector 5. The two companies of fighters were travelling on 25 boats led by Lt Taheruddin.
- East Pakistan Assistance and Rehabilitation Minister Prof Shamsul Huq tells a rally in Chittagong that revolt never came out successful in the past. “The conspirators are being misled by Indian propaganda. Even then, the president has offered them pardon and safe return. In no manner 13 crore people could suffer for a few miscreants.”
