Release came as a surprise to Begum Mujib

DACCA. Feb 22: Mrs. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was getting, ready to take some food for her husband to the Cantonment when at about 1 P.M a military jeep with some military officers arrived at the residence with Sheikh Mujib. Lawyer Zulmat Ali was also in the jeep.
Mrs. Mujib said he was taken by surprise to see Sheikh Saheb whom she asked whether the case had been withdrawn. He said that a case was withdrawn and everybody was released.
Sheikh Saheb was in a buttoned coat and was smoking a pipe. Mrs. Mujub offered her husband a cold drink. She said the Sheikh was not feeling well.
Last night when Mr. Mujib went to see her husband at the Cantonment, at 9-30 she was him cooking Dal.
The son and daughter of Sheikh Mujib were present at their residence when their father came in from the Cantonment.
Also present were Begum Akhtar Sulaiman, daughter of late Mr. Husain Shaheed Shurawardy, and her husband Mr. Sulaiman. Mr. Akhtar Sulaiman and his wife were “most happy” to see the Sheikh released, they said.
Begum Akhtar, who came here last night, said “DAC leaders found it necessary to have Sheikh at the round table conference, and so we came.”
Begum Akhtar said she had told Mrs. Mujib last night that Sheikh would be released and that was why she (Begum Akhtar) had come to Dacca. -APP
