Sheikh affirms faith in people

Awami League chief Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared in Dacca on Saturday that he was ready to face any eventualities for the cause of the people, reports PPI.
He was addressing a largely attended public meeting at Malibagh in the afternoon after formally inaugurating the office of the Rajarbagh Union Awami League there.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman said that he had been jailed for several occasions and had faced a large number of political cases including the so-called conspiracy case.
He said that no oppression and suppression could suppress his determination to fight for the realisation of people’s rights.
Pointing out to a recent remark by a political leader that the demands of East Pakistan could not be materialised at the Round Table Conference due to the arrogant attitude of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Awami League chief said that if he had any arrogance it was for the cause of the people.
He said that these leaders were ready to negotiate the demands of the people only to be come ministers.

Press statement
He advised them not to take recourse to press statement but to face the people.
The Awami League chief reminded the people that two sections of interested agents- one extreme reactionary and the other so called progressive elements-were trying to help the unholy power, and called upon all sections of people to guard against them so that the causes of the people were not jeopardised.
The Awami League chief said that the people of Pakistan particularly the East Pakistanis were fighting for attaining their civil liberties for the last 22 years. He said that the people demanded the democracy and other civil liberties, the labour wanted proper wages and the students better education in return, they received bullets which were purchased by the peoples money realised through taxes, he said.
