Mujib’s battle call against lawlessness: Administration criticised for abdicating responsibility
DACCA, March 19: Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, President of All- Pakistan Awami League, today called upon all democratic forces to work vigorously for the maintenance of peace and protection of the rights of the people.
He expressed his “unqualified condemnation” for the situation created by the Administration by what he called as abdication of its responsibility to protect the rights of the citizens.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a statement issued to the Press today said:
“I cannot but express my unqualified condemnation for the situation which has been created by the total abdication of the Administration of its responsibility for protecting the rights of ordinary citizens. There seems to be an unholy conspiracy which is instigating anti-social and anti-people elements daily to violate the life, person, and property of ordinary citizens for the ulterior purpose of diverting the course of our struggle. No greater disservice can be done to the people’s cause and the cause of democracy than to tolerate such activities.
“I appealed to all those who believe in the people’s cause to do everything, in their power to defeat the nefarious designs of interested quarters and to resist these anti-social elements. I call upon all democratic forces including students, workers, peasants and my Party members, vigorously to work for the maintenance of peace and protection of the rights of citizens.”
