Mujib group to forge alliance with other parties
DACCA, Dec. 2: The East Pakistan Awami League (Six-Point Group) has formed a five-member Committee to negotiate with other parties including PDM to forge unity of the opposition parties, according to a Press release of the Party last night.
The Working Committee of the party yesterday at a meeting discussed the political and economic situation in the country and expressed “its faith in the unity of the opposition parties”. It also reiterated its faith in its Six Point programme.
The party is also learnt to have accepted the invitation of the East Pakistan National Awami Party (Requisitionist group) for a joint opposition parties meeting to evolve a formula for the unity of the opposition parties.
The party adopted a resolution accusing the Government of its “failures in different sectors of national life” and listed among others, full regional autonomy, dissolution of One Unit in west Pakistan, adult franchise and release of political prisoners, as points of a common programme.
The Working committee also decided to observe “Anti- Repression Day” on December 13 through the province.
