Mujib’s call to maintain law & order
(By Our Staff Reporter)
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman last night appealed to the people to maintain law and order in the face of all provocations and incitement.
He also asked the Government not to give any provocation. Following is the text of the statement issued last night “I have been deeply shocked at the tragic incident that took place in front of Dacca Club last evening. The historic public meeting of one million people at the Race Course ground pledged today that the struggle of the martyr sanctified by blood shall not be allowed to be diverted from the goal by undesirable excitement.
“Now I appeal to my beloved countrymen to honour the pledge. The ray of hope that has illuminated the horizon of the country has to be safeguarded at all costs. I again fervently appeal to the people to maintain law & order in the face of all provocation and incitement. I would ask the Government not to give any provocation.
“I would like to convey my heartfelt sense of sympathy to all those who had been injured in the incident and those suffered loss due to the incident”.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman later visited the Dacca Medical College Hospital where the injured person have been admitted. He talked to them and found that they were being looked after well.
