BANGLA DESH PRESS CONFERENCE BANNED

The Indonesian goverament yesterday banned a press conference scheduled to be held at one of the Pakistani defactors’ home here by Bangla Desh roving Ambassadr K.K. Panni.
Panni who arrived here two days ago from Singapore is formerly Pakistani Ambassador to the Philippines.
He was scheduled to speak at the banned press conference to be held at formerly Pakistani Embassy First Secretary (Commercial) AF Md. Shamsuzzaman’s at Djalan Sumbawa here.
Panni was not available yesterday for comments on the ban of the conference.
The ban followed a sudden dispatch of police “guard” the house of Shamsuzzaman, who had together with 2 other people from the Pakistani Embassy defected to the Bangla Desh Monday.
There are 53 people (wives and childen) have defected to Bangla Desh.
POLICEMEN
Several armed policemen were also posted at the Pakistani chancery at Djalan Teuku Umat and the Information Seetion of the Pakistani Embassy at Djalan Menteng.
The Police Inspector a who guarded the house of Shamsuzaman, A. Sharifuddin W.M. said that they were ordered to guard the house since Monday night, and would be there until further order.

Pakistani Ambassador to Indonesia Abdul Ghafur who was also contacted by the Djakarta Times, said yesterday he still considered the defectors his brothers.
The Pakistani Ambassador did not deny that all telephone lines connecting to houses of the defectors in jakarta have been disconnected on request of the Pakistani Embassy
NO DECISION TAKEN
Meanwhile, the Foreign Office yesterday said that no decision has been taken on whether the defectors would be allowed to stay here.
The matters were still senior Foreign Office official said.
The Foreign Office would not receive KK Panni, the Bangla Desh roving Ambassador, said the FO Official again, for Indonesia does not recognize the Bangla Desh.
When asked how Panni be allowed to enter Indonesia, the FO Official said that he might use a tourist passport.
About Panni himself, Faruque said that he did not know where he stayed in Djakarta.
