Statement
On the 11th March, a general strike was called by the Tamuddin Majlis and East Bengal Muslim Student League as a protest against the decision of the Pakistan Constituent Assembly not to recognise Bengali as a State Language. In response to the call some of the Moslem students went to picket the gates of the Secretariat, High Court and other Government offices. The picketters were absolutely peaceful and the Police appeared and began to want only assault the peaceful picketters which resulted in injuries to about 100 persons. This Police Zooloon is declared by Mr. Nazimuddin Ahmed as complained by the East Bengal Muslim Students League. This motion is sought to be moved to discuss the vital “Police Zooloom”.
