Bhutto urges Govt. to release Sk. Mujib

Former Foreign Minister, Mr. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto yesterday urged upon the Government to release Sheikh Mujibur Rahman President of the East Pakistan Awami League, reports PPA.
Addressing a gathering of students at the Institute of Engineers here last evening Mr. Bhutto regretted, “a national leader like Sheikh Mujib who sacrificed a lot for the achievement of independence and did much for the people, has been levelled as disruptionist and put behind the bar.
He disagreed with those who thought that in the garb of sixpoint demand Sheikh Mujib had been working for the secession of East Pakistan, and said, “I do not think six-point demand was a secessionist move and that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who has been undergoing untold sufferings for reflecting the people’s opinion can work for disintegrating the country.
Mr. Bhutto deplored detention of political leaders in general and that of Sheikh Mujib in particular and urged the Government either set them free or to let them face the people and be tried in the peoples court.
