Bhutto to form his party next month
Mr. Z. A. Bhutto, former Foreign Minister said yesterday that he would announce the formation of his party sometime next month, reports PPA.
Addressing a Press conference at a local yesterday, he claimed that he had received “pretty good and encouraging response” from different quarters.
He said that he had contacted people of various shades of opinion and also held useful discussions with different political leaders including Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhahsani and Mr. Ataur Rahman Khan.
He said already a lot of interest had been aroused in different sections of people including some legislators to join his party.
Mr. Z. A. Bhutto gave the background which led to his desertion from the Muslim League. He said that he had developed differences in principle on different issues. He sounded the idea of a forward block in the ruling party with the hope that he could rectify the mistakes of PML. His idea of a forward block was not liked by the Muslim League leadership he said.
Discussing the economic conditions of the country with particular reference to East Pakistan, Mr. Bhutto expressed the view that the country was now moving towards economic crisis. He particularly spoke of upward trend of prices of foodstuff, essential commodities and basic necessaries of life.
BOOK ON FOREIGN POLICY
Mr. Bhutto disclosed that he had written a book on foreign policy and that it would be published by a foreign publisher sometime early next year.
Talking about domestic affairs, he said that he considered Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the national leader and demanded his immediate release.
Referring to the six-point programme, he said, that the programme could be discussed and negotiated. It would be wrong to brand Sheikh Sahib as secessionist only because he held his own views regarding political and economic programme, he said.
TAGORE-CONTROVERSY
Mr. Bhutto threw a challenge to Mr. Abdus Sabur Khan, Central Communications Minister, to face him on “Tagore-controversy”.
Referring to certain remarks made by Khan A. Sabur, he said that it would be wrong to presume that he knew nothing about the works of Tagore since he was a non-Bengali.
“I would be glad to face Mr. Sabur on Tagore” he said. Talking about the culture, he regretted that unnecessary controversy had been created by the persons in authority on this issue.
“After all, you cannot create culture by the issuance of an ordinance. Culture emerges spontaneously out of particular socioeconomic and political conditions reflecting the values, traditions and national aspirations of a particular nation.
APP adds: Mr. Z. A. Bhutto said here yesterday that he had not submitted any letters of resignation either on leaving the Central Government or the Pakistan Muslim League.
He was answering questions at a Press conference.
He was asked whether he had followed the normal practice of submitting letters of resignation listing points of differences.
