Sedition case against Mujib: Hearing begins

A case of sedition started against Sheikh Mujibur Rahman now in detenion under the DPR came up for hearing in the court of Mr. M. S. Khan, ADM, at the Central Jail gate here yesterday, reports PPA.
According to an Awami League Press release, the case was instituted against the Awami League, chief under Sections 24 (A) (PPC) and Section 7(3) of the East Pakistan Public Safety Ordinance for an alleged prejudicial speech delivered by Sheikh Mujib at the Outer Stadium here on March 29, in 1964.
Two prosecution witnesses Mohammed Hossain, the Government stenographer and Mr. Abul Hashim, the Government longhand writer-were cross examined on behalf of the defence yesterday. The case comes up for hearing again today.
Advocates, Messrs. Zahiruddin, M. A. Rab, Kamruzzaman, Mohammadullah, Aminul Huq, Choudhury Abdul Hakim, Abdul Jalil and Syed Nazrul Islam appeared for the defence, while Mr. Abdul Alim conducted the prosecution.
