Hearing of DPI’s case
Govt. accused of blocking prospects

The Government of East Pakistan was accused of having blocked the bright prospects of Khan Bahadur Abdul Hakim, formerly Director of Public Instructions and cast a stigma on his position and prestige in society by ordering his compulsory retirement illegally.
This was stated on Monday by the Khan Bahadur’s lawyer before sub-Judge A. K. Faizuddin who was giving hearing to the DPI’s suit challenging the retirement during the Martial law regime.
The defence imputed misconduct to the DPI and argued that the retirement was justified. Hearing over, the judgment was reserved.
Kazi Serajul Islam who argued the plaintiff’s case submitted that prior to his compulsory retirement with effect from June 30, 1959 by an order of the Governor of East Pakistan, the latter was asked to show cause to certain charges by the Government’s Screening Committee Chairman D. K. Power on March 29, 1959.
