Mujib appeals against conviction

DACCA, May 21: Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has appealed in the court of Sessions Judge, Dacca, against his conviction late last month by a Magistrate First Class for an alleged prejudicial speech at Paltan Maidan in March last year.
Admitting the appeal yesterday the Judge fixed June 19 for the hearing. A bail petition was also moved of behalf of Sheikh Mujib, now under detention. The petition comes up for hearing on May 29.
Sheikh Majib, President of the East Pakistan Awami League, was awarded 15 months jail term for the prejudicial speech which was “likely to promote feeling of enmity and hatred between the people of two wings.” – APP.
