Mujib’s trial
(By Our Court Correspondent)

On a petition filed by Mr. Abdul Khaleq, DSP, the Additional District Magistrate, Dacca on Monday allowed the prosecution to hold the trial of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman inside Dacca Central Jail in yet another case of alleged prejudicial speech.
In this case charges have been brought under section 124-A PPC (Sedition) for an alleged speech delivered by the accused at, Outer Stadium on March, S.P. Dacca complained against him.
The sureties of the accused in this case were earlier notified to produce him before the court on Monday. The sureties replied that the accused was in detention under DPR and as such it was within the court’s power to order his production. He was, however, not brought to the court.
Advocate Mr. Abul Husain disputed the prosecution prayer for trial inside the jail and submitted that the trial should be held in an open court. The court rejected his submissions and fixed the case for hearing on March 27.
