Mujib’s Release Demanded
MADARIPUR, Jan. 11 (PPA): Four Awami League leader of Madaripur today demanded the release of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and lifting of emergency from the country.
In a joint Press statement here today the leaders expressed grave concern over the reported illness of Sheikh Mujib and Mr. Tofazzal Hosain, now detained under DPR and said that “it was simply unfortunate that a patriotic leader like Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and a journalist like Mr. Tofazzal Hossain have been detained under DPR and deprived of having been attended by their relations at the time of illness”.
The signatories to the statement are Dr. Golam Mowla, a former MNA and President Madaripur Sub-divisional Awami League, Mr. Asmat Ali Khan a former MPA and ex-President, Faridpur District Awami League, Mr. Abdul Mannan Mia Secretary, Sub-divisional Awami League, and Mr. Abdul Mannan Sikdar, Awami League and member District Council.
