Mujib’s Petition Allowed

The Supreme Court which began its four-week Dacca session allowed special leave in a petition filed on behalf of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, challenging his detention under the Defence of Pakistan Rules.
This petition is to be heard by the Supreme Court along with the petition of Mr. Tofazzal Hossain, Editor, Daily ‘Ittefaq’, also under the Defence of Pakistan Rules. Leave to that petition has been granted earlier.
The First Bench of the Supreme Court consisting of the Chief Justice Mr. Justice A. R. cornelius, Mr. Justice Hamoodur Rahman. and Mr. Justice Yakub Ali disposed of three appeals of which two were civil and one criminal.
The second Bench of the Supreme Court consisting of Mr. Justice Fazle Akbar disposed of 14 petitions.
