Awami League demands

DACCA, Nov. 13: The Dacca City Awami League Working Committee has demanded that the “alarming” food situation in the province be tackled on “emergency basis”.
According to a party Press release here today, the Committee, which met yesterday at its office, also demanded the introduction of full rationing throughout the province for the supply of food and essential commodities at “fair rate”.
The Committee discussed, besides food and economic conditions, the political situation in the province and refirmed its determination to continue a peaceful and constitutional movement for the realisation of the six-point programme.
It did not find any reason for further continuation of emergency in the country and adopted & resolution demanding its withdrawal.
It also resolved to make proper arrangements for the observance of the death anniversary of Mr H. S. Suhrawardy on Dec 5.
The Committee adopted a number of other resolutions condemning various measures taken by the Government and demanding the release of all political detenus, including Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. –PPA
