Release of Mujib : others welcomed

Dewan Abdul Basith Provincial Industries Minister said that after the memorable February 21 the day of February 22, 1969 is again historic day.
He said that the supremacy of the People’s will had again been established. “I congratulate our fellow freedom fighter Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Sahib and hope that he will now arrive to make Pakistan into a more happier and prosperous state which has been the dream of all of us”.
He said that the President indeed had once again demonstrated the deep respect for the majesty of people’s will.

MALEK UKIL
Mr. Abdul Malek Ukil, Leader of the Opposition in the Provincial Assembly has congratulated Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his release and withdrawal of the Agartala Conspiracy Case. In a telegram Mr. Ukil termed the decision of the Government as “wise and timely step towards helping to restore normally in the country. This is not surrender but respect for the popular people demand”, he added.

BAR ASSOCN
The Dacca Bar Association at a meeting yesterday expressed satisfaction at the withdrawal of Agartala Conspiracy Case and congratulated Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and others who suffered much due to their involvement in the case.
Presided over Mr. Satish Chandra Roy, President of the Bar, the meeting was addressed by Khan Bahadur Naziruddin Ahmed, Mr. Mohammad Siddique Hossain and Mr. Zaheeruddin. The meeting rounded off with the distribution of sweetmeats among the members present on the occasion.

AZIZUL HUQ
Syed Azizul Huq, former Provincial Minister welcoming the withdrawal of Agartala Conspiracy Case and release of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman said “it was the grand victory of the people”.

ABDUR RAHIM
Maulana Abdur Rahim, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami, East Pakistan, hoped that withdrawal of the Agartala Conspiracy Case and release of the accused persons would help create peaceful atmosphere in the country.
In a statement issued yesterday, he said that withdrawal of the case would also facilitate the holding of the proposed round-table conference.

ABDUL KADER
Mr. K.M.M. Abdul Kader, Joint Secretary of the East Pakistan Regional Committee of the PDM and one of the defence counsels in the alleged Agartala Conspiracy Case in a statement described the withdrawal of the conspiracy case “as victory of the majesty of people”.
He said: “Withdrawal of the alleged Agartala Conspiracy case and release of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other accused persons is one of the most welcome actions taken by the Government in recent times, and indicates the victory of the majesty of the people. “While I share the ecstasy with the countrymen for the release of the accused persons, my heart sobs for Sergeant Zahurul Haque who, too, could be amongst us but for a few days”.
