Mujib’s release demanded
DACCA, May 10: Mr Asaduzzaman Khan, leader of the Independent Opposition Group in the East Pakistan Assembly, yesterday criticised the arrest of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other Awami League leaders and demanded their immediate release.
In a statement he said: “It is an utter misuse of the DPR to suppress demands for political rights and the political activities in the country.
“What is needed in the present political situation in the country is a statesmanlike and patriotic approach to the questions agitating the minds of the people. Any attempt to suppress the political aspirations of the people will only do harm to the country”. the statement added. — PPA.
APP adds: The General Secretary of the Awami League Karachi Branch, Mr Khalil Ahmad Tirmizi, today demanded immediate release of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and his two defamed colleagues.
Mr Tirmizi in a Press statement, criticised the arrests of the three Awami Leaguers under the Defence of Pakistan Rules.
