Mujib’s Arrest Criticised

There leaders of East Pakistan Council Muslim League yesterday issued a statement strongly criticising the arrests of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other Awame League leaders under Defence of Pakistan Rules.
The Council League leaders, Mr. S. K. Khairuddin, Mr. A. Q. M. Shafiqul Islam and Mr. Ataur Huq said that political opponents should be fought in the political arena and the people should be given an opportunity to express their opinion for or against any political party.
Demanding the release of the Awami League leaders the jint signatories to the statement contended that it was the freedom of every party to place its own programme before the people for their acceptance of rejection.
