Mujib Was jailed Several Times:
Amin Reminded
The President of Dacca City Muslim League, Mr. Shamsul Huda yesterday criticised Mr. Nurul Amin who had demanded the release of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other Awami League leaders reports, APP.
In a statement here, Mr. Shamsul Huda reminded Mr. Nurul Amin that it was Mr. Amin who sent Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to jail time and again when he (Mr. Aman) was the Chief Minister of East Pakistan.
Mr. Huda said that in 1949 during his regime Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was arrested under the Safety Ordinance and was detained for about three years.
In 1953 the then Nurul Amin Government instituted a case against Sheikh Mujibur Rahman when Mr. Rahman drove out police and official reporters from his meeting held at the Bar Library Hall, he said.
He regretted that in spite of all these Mr. Nurul Amin was today demanding the release of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who had been arrested under the Defence of Pakistan Rules.
Mr. Shamsul Huda said the primary responsibility of the Government was to Maintain law and order at any cost. For this the Government might have to adopt any harsh measure, he said.
