Mujib’s statement
DACCA, April 13: Sheikh Mujibur Rahman President of the East Pakistan Awami League, today accepted the challenge of the Foreign Minister, Mr Z.A. Bhutto, to discuss the six-point programme on a public platform.
Sheikh Mujib has asked Mr Bhutto to avail of the public meeting to be held at Paltan Maidan on April 24 under the auspices of the Awami League for the confrontation.
In a statement issued here, Sheikh Mujib said that in case Mr Bhutto agreed to his proposal, the proposed confrontation be arranged under sponsorship of the Secretary General of the Muslim League and of the East Pakistan Awami League, who has been authorised for the purpose.
If Mr Bhutto finds it convenient to hold the public meeting earlier, he can convey me the date. He added.
Mr Bhutto had renewed his challenge to Sheikh Mujib, which he had thrown last month while addressing the Council session of the Pakistan Muslim League at Dacca. — APP.
