Mujib’s Programme Based
On Political Opportunism
MAULANA RAHIM

Maulana Abdur Rahim, Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami, East Pakistan said here on Saturday that the six-Point Programme of the Awami League was based on political opportunism”, reports PPA.
In a Press statement here yesterday, the provincial Jamaat Ameer was commenting on the reported offer of the Awami League that it would forego its six-point programme if the capital of Pakistan was shifted to East Pakistan.
Maulana Rahim expressed his surprise as to how Sheikh Mujib the East Pakistan Awami League Chief, could agree to surrender his programme after making so much fuss about it.
He continued that Sheikh Mujib never raised the issue of federal capital nor he put forward any scheme for the solution of the “economic ills” of East Pakistan.
Besides, he said, the Awami League leader had never claimed that shifting of the federal capital to East Pakistan would achieve the objective of the six-point programme. L Sheikh Mujib was now prepared to forego the six-point programme in lieu of the federal capital for East Pakistan.
This clearly manifested that the six-point programme was based on political opportunism, he said and added that inspired by opportunism only the Awami League had now fallen back upon its programme after raising a hue and cry among the people.
Maulana Rahim said, people had been watching this game since Jugto Front came out with the 21-point programme.
Maulana Rahim concluded that the real welfare of the people could not be achieved until such political opportunism was uprooted from the soil and ideal political atmosphere established in the country.
