Lahore Confce Mujib did not place his points
(By A Staff Correspondent)

Members of Muslim League (Council) and Nezam-e-Islam who attended the recent Lahore Conference of four Opposition parties have been surprised by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s explanation of his and other East Pakistan Awami League members’ dissociation from the conference. On his return from West Pakistan on Friday Sheikh Mujibur Rahman said that the members of the East Pakistan Awami League delegation did not associate with the conference as it was not ready to consider a six-point agenda on problems of East Pakistan submitted by him.
Mr. Shafiqul Islam, General Secretary, East Pakistan Muslim League (Council) said on Sunday that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman did not formally submit his six-point memorandum to the Subjects Committee of the conference. Nor did he raise it openly at either the Subjects Committee meeting or the Conference.
He said, all that he knew was Sheikh Mujibur Rahman circulated copies of his proposals among the heads of the participating parties at “negotiating stage”, but it was never brought up at any formal meeting of the Conference.
