E. Pakistan CML Secretary Opposes Mujib’s idea
DACCA, Feb 15: Mr S.Q. M. Shafiqul Islam, General Secretary of the East Pakistan Council Muslim League, and a delegate to the Lahore conference today contested the idea of forming a federal type of Government propounded by Awami League’s Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the basis of his six-point programme. He was addressing a Press conference here morning. Khwaja Khairuddin MNA and Vice-President of the Council Muslim League was also present at the conference.
Mr Islam dwelt at length on various points ranging from Sheikh Mujib’s scheme for a federation down to Tashkent Declaration including democratisation of the Constitution and launching of a united movement in the country for restoration of democracy. Mr. Shafiqul Islam maintained that scheme for a federation envisaged by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman would sow the seed of disintegration of Pakistan.
