AL TO UPHOLD CAUSE OF PEACE
Mujib’s statement in City
A group of political leaders from East Pakistan, headed by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, General Secretary of the East Pakistan Awami League left Karachi yesterday morning for Lahore to attend the opposition parties conference.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said in Karachi yesterday that his party was joining the conference with the determination to uphold the cause of peace and to make the best use of the respite brought about by the peace loving people of Russia.”
In a statement issued in Karachi yesterday before leaving for Lahore, he asserted that his party stood for the peaceful settlement of international disputes and wanted to “live in peace with all nations, particularly with our closest neighbour, India.”
The country, he said, was bleeding from the “grievous wounds of the recent war with India”, he warned that “we must keep vigilance against any future adventurism upon peace.”
The entire situation in the country, he said should be assessed and a “balancesheet be drawn up on the net outcome of this bloody confrontation and a fresh start be made with clear vision clean mind and firm steps.
