NAP Leaders’
Rejoinder To Mujib

Mr. C.R. Aslam and Mr. Anis Hashmi, West Pakistan National Awami Party Leaders, on Tuesday night welcomed the “new healthy trends” in Pakistan foreign policy, reports APP.
In a joint statement issued here, they also called for “further steps in this direction” by the Government. They appealed to the people to hold meetings and demonstrations to demand withdrawal of Pakistan from CENTO and SEATO.
The NAP leaders condemned American “open aggression” in Viet Nam, Dominican Republic and the Congo and wanted the Pakistan Government to “completely associate” with the aspirations of the Afro-Asian nations.
The “friends” of imperialism in our country, they felt, were “perturbed and unhappy at the strong reactions of the people at the US decision to defer the meeting of the aid-to-Pakistan Consortium.
They are also unhappy at the country’s growing relations with China, Russia and Afro-Asian countries, the NAP leaders added.
Referring to Monday’s Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s statement they said Sheikh Mujib, “whose organisation had shamefacedly supported the imperialist aggression in Egypt and devised the theory of ‘zero plus zero is equal to zero’, has also discharged his duty to his friends abroad by issuing a statement to the Press”.
They reiterated the stand of the Party on the domestic issues stating that the NAP stood for complete civil liberties, including adult franchise and provision for free education.
“Establishment of basic industry in the public sector with the assistance of the Socialist countries, and to diversity our trade towards Socialist and Afro-Asian countries,” they demanded.
