AL Workers Favour Revival Of Party
ADMIT NDF FAILURE TO FULFIL OBJECTIVES

Strong sentiments for reviving Awami League were expressed in Dacca yesterday at a meeting of the Awami League workers. The meeting urged Mr. Suhrawardy and other leaders of the party to appreciate their viewpoints.
The meeting held at the Bar Library Hall and presided over By Mr. Tajuddin Ahmed, ex-MPA, was adderessed, among others by the former Chief Minister Mr. Ataur Rahman Khan and the former General Secretary of the East Pakistan Awami League, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Though leaders maintained a restraint in expressing their considered views on the subject of revival, the workers gave vent to their feelings without any reservation. Some of them even frankly admitted that the NDF had failed to fulfill its objectives.
Mr. Abdur Rahim an Awami League worker, made a frontal attack on Khwaja Nazimuddin and Mr. Nurul Amin. He accused his leaders of joining hands with those who were sworn enemies of the party. He also questioned the intentions of those non Awami Leaders and said they would ultimately cause great harm to the organisation.
Concealed resentments were also expressed against NAP and indirect deferences (references) were made to Maulana Bhashani and his trip to China as leader of an official delegation. It was also suggested that while Awami League decided to work in co-operation with other opposition parties, some organisations continued to function independently at various levels.
The resolution of the city workers for revival will be placed before the provincial working committee which meets in Dacca On December 1 at 9 a.m. at the residence of Mr. Ataur Rahman Khan. That meeting will take final decision about the future course of action. Mr. Ataur Rahman khan, speaking at the meeting, criticised the present government. He launched a tirade against the Counstitution which, he said, had taken away all human rights. He stressed the need for a powerful movement in favour of adult franchise.
The Former Chief Minister analysed the polltical situation and said it was time to stand united. He thought all political parties should join hands for the common cause of restoring democratic rights of the people.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman put up a strong defence for Mr. Nurul Amin and Shah Azizur Rahman for their patriotic sentiments. He also supported some NAP leaders for their views.
Sheikh Mujib appreciated the sentiments of the workers about the revival of the party and said, “without an organised party no campaign was possible against an organised opponent”.
The meeting expressed its concern over the eviction of Muslims from Tripura And Assam and urged the government to call a conference of political leaders to discuss the matter.
By another resolution, the meeting demanded release of all political detenus, repeal of safety laws and withdrawal of pending warrants against political workers.
the workers were also concerned about the price spiral of essential commodities.
the shifting of capitai from karachi to Islamabad was criticised at the meeting.
