Revival of Awami League not yet decided,
says Mujib

A leader of the defunct Awami League, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said in Karachi yesterday that the question of reviving Awami League or formation of another political party has not yet been decided.
He said this in an interview with PPA on arrival from London after holding consultations with his Chief, Mr. H. S. Suhrawardy.
He said the question cannot be decided by an individual. A decision will be taken after holding extensive consultations with leaders in East and West Pakistan.
So far as the present position was concerned, he observed, the NDF was working for the democratisation of the Constitution and will continue its fight till the goal is achieved.
VITAL MATTER
He said that the revival of Awami League or the formation of a new party was a vital matter and needed deep thinking. A party, he said, can only be formed on the basis of a programme and ideology and not on sentimental or emotional grounds.
He said that the NDF will cooperate with other parties in fighting the coming by-elections.
He denied reports that Mr. Suhrawardy had rejected an offer by Maulana Bhashani to cooperate in the formation of the proposed National Democratic Party. He said he knew nothing about any such offer or rejection.
