Suhrawardy pleads for unity

COMILLA, Oct 19 : The solution of our problems lies in the unity of the people which has to be maintained at all cost said Mr. H. S. Suhrawardy while addressing a huge public meeting here yesterday.
The meeting, presided over by Mr. Ramizuddin Ahmed, a former Central Minister, was described as the largest ever held here since Independence.
Mr. Suhrawardy said all defunct political parties should stand united for a common goal, the restoration of full democracy in the country. Sounding a note of caution to former politicians he said if they indulged again in party politics the people would not pardon them.
Referring to the Constitution, Mr. Suhrawardy said it was one man’s constitution which did not provide for adult franchise for which Pakistan was achieved. Hence the National Democratic Front has launched a struggle for the restoration of peoples power, he added.
Mr. Ataur Rahman Mr. Mujibur Rahman, Mr. Abu Hossain Sarkar, Mr. Mohammad Ali, Mr. Ramizuddin Ahmed also spoke on the occasion, appealing to the people to launch a relentless struggle against undemocratic force.
Earlier, Mr. Suhrawardy made some unscheduled halts to address the people waiting at various railway stations. As a result the train reached Comilla two hours late.
Another report says: Four NDF leaders, Mr. Nurul Amin, Mr. Yusuf Ali Chowdhury (Mohan Mia), Syed Azizul Huq and Shah Azizur Rahman, will join Mr. Suhrawardy this morning at Feni. They will all leave for Chittagong where they will address a public meeting in the afternoon.-PPA.
