INDIA FORCED TO TAKE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

A renewal of tension and the concentration of troops on the Indo-Pakistani frontiers has been reported since the end of the last week. In fact, it was learned on the 16th October that five Pakistani divisions, on a war footing, had been massed along the western frontier of India, while defensive measures had been taken on the Indian side…

The problem created by the influx of East Pakistani refugees into Indian territory is far from reaching a solution. It can only be found in the return of the refugees to their terrotory of orign, which is impossible so long as the repression exercised by the central power continues to be pursued. Facede with this intractable situation, a diversion may eventally be sought by West Pakistan…

The situation remained tense at the beginning of the week and concentrations of Pakistani troops continued to be reported in the proximity of the western frontiers of India which necessitated precautionary measures on the Indian side in response to the “Offensive measure” of Pakistan.
