PAKISTAN ACCUSES WORLD BANK OFFICIAL OF PREJUDICE

Rawalpindi, July 6 (AP)- “Pakistan’s government radio charged Tuesday that World Bank official Peter Cargill was “trying to prejudice” an aid giving consortium of countries against Pakistan with uncalled for and venomous remarks”.

Cargill, Director of the South Asia Division of the bank and chairman’ of the 11member consortium which provides aid from Western countries to Pakistan reportedly has declared Pakistan could not get development aid until there is a political settlement in East Pakistan.

He and a team toured East Pakistan in June to prepare a report on conditions there.

Quoting unidentified “political circles” the official radio said Cargill had “seriously affected the objective image of the institution he represents.”
