Five-party group formed to coordinate Bengal fight
The Bengalis struggle for independence by the conservative Awami League and three communist political organizations which joined forces in a broad based Consulting Committee at a secret meeting of Bengal leaders on Wednesday.
The committee, which was formed to direct the freedom struggle,” will consist of four Awami League’s members and four representative from the Maulana Bhaswanis, the ultra leftwing National Awami Party (NAP), the pro-Soviet splinter group of NAP under the leadership of Professor Muzafar Ahmed, and the communist Party of BanglaDesh.
It is understood that the Awami League agreed to form a broad-based front with the communist groups at the urging of senior Indian Government officials who visited Calcutta recently. With the formation of the consultative Committee, the Communists are expected to influence the provisional government which is already showing signs of Pro-Soviet orientation.
Delhi, Sept 10-The self-Proclaimed government of BanglaDesh plans to send a delegation to plead its cause before the forthcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly, it was announced here today.
Mr Mahbob Ul Alam, the BanglaDesh “Foreign Secretary”, said the aim was to provide a new dimension to the BanglaDesh freedom efforts.
Mr Alam issued a veiled warning to any United Nations personnel who went to East Pakistan to help in relief work. “Anyone who by his activities helps the enemy force becomes an accessory” he said.
