Battle for Sylhet stepped up

Form Our Own Correspondent, KARIMGANJ, NOV. 9 – The flight for the liberation of Bangladesh has been stepped up in Sylhet district.
According to one Mukti Fouj official whom I met on the Bangladesh border yesterday told me that the liberation of the whole of Sylhet district was now a matter of a month or so.
So far three-fourth parts of Habiganj and Sunamganj sub-divisions and half of North Sylhet are under the control of Mukti Fouj and now fight continues in Gowainghat, Shari, Shalutikar, Kanighat Sr mangal, Shamshernagar and other sectors with in Sylhet district.
Besides Mukti Fouj guerillas, 10,000 freedom fighters are now engaged in the fight against the Pakistani troops within Sylhet. The Bengal Regiment was fighting within Sylhet with Chinese arms which they had captured earlier.
In liberated areas young girls of Rushanara Squad are also working as helper to liberation fighters. Many Razakars have joined gurillas bahini. Sounds of mortars within Bangladesh are being heard from Karimganj town and border.
