Pindi troops rushed to Mymensingh

MUJIBNAGAR, Aug 19 (UNI)- Pakistan is rushing more troops to Sherpur area in Mymensingh District and in Tangail area in view of intensified activities of the BanglaDesh freedom fighters.
At least half a dozen Pakistani soldiers were killed on Aug. 14 in the district when freedom fighters launched a surprise attack on an army position near Jamalpur.
A large number of liberation forces carried out a raid in Morreiganj, 40 km southeast of khulna on Aug. 16 killing 15 razakars and 10 collaborators.
In a major encounter in Chittagong sector on the night of Aug. 13-14 freedom fighters killed about 10 Pakistani soldiers, a dozen razakars and some Mizos who were collaborating with the Pakistani Army.
Four cargo steamers were destroyed and sank in the deep waters of the Narayangonj river port, near Dacca, when guerilla fighters dynamited them, a report received at the liberation army headquarters said today.
The steamers were loaded with jute and coal. The loss is estimated at several million rupees.
A 30-hour curfew was imposed by the Mukti Bahini from 6 a.m. of Aug. 14 to noon of Aug. 15. The people fully cooperated with the Mukti Bahini and observed the curfew regulations.
KARIMGANJ (Assam) : Pakistani troops opened fire on the Indian side in Bhanga sector on Karimganj border at 10-45 hours today, according to official reports reaching here.
The BSF men returned fire and the exchange continued till afternoon.
NEW DELHI : The Toronto Daily has called upon the Canadian Government to make it clear to Pakistan that all Canadian aid to it would cease on the day Yahya Khan executed Sheikh Mujibur Rehman. If other countries followed Canada’s example, it might just persuade Yahya Khan to step back from the brink, the paper said in a recent editorial.
