Tikka Khan admits blowing up of bridge

NEW DELHI, JULY 26- East Bengal Government, Lt. Gen. Tikka Khan, yesterday admitted that the Jhena Bati railway bridge in Comilla district had been dynamited by the Mukti Fauj recently, report agencies.
He visited the site of the bridge and claimed the bridge connecting Laxman and Feni was in the final stage of reconstruction, Radio Pakistan said.
He was accompanied by the Jordanian Ambassador to Pakistan, Syed Kamal el Sharik, now on a visit to East Bengal, the Radio added.
The Governor observed that the bridge had been destroyed by ‘ammunition experts’ , the Radio said.
Powerful hidden mines laid by the Mukti Bahini Guerillas blasted off a passenger train, near Gochihata station, between Bhairab Bazar and Kishoreganj in Bangladesh recently killing at least 30 persons including ten Pakistani troops and the driver.
Six bogies of the train, including the locomotive, were badly damaged, reliable reports from across the border said.
In a massive offensive on the Pakistani Army position at Shabajpur railway station in Sylhet sector the Mukti Fouj Bahini guerillas killed at least 40 of the enemy army.
Mr. Abu Sayeed Chowdhury, special overseas representative of the Bangladesh Government said he had told two international organizations in Geneva that a trial of Sheik Mujibur Rahman could threaten world peace.
