2 BSF men injured in Pak firing at Bongaon

Two men of the Border Security Force were injured when Pakistani troops fired on BSF position at Bongaon in 24 Parganas district this afternoon, according to a report received in Calcutta on Thursday, reports UNI.
The BSF took up defensive positions and returned the fire inflicting heavy casualties on the Pakistani troops who retreated after a 10 minute exchange.
Renewed firing came after about a week’s lull along the border in the district, which had been frequently firing by the Pakistani troops since the beginning of June.
The Pakistani Army fired at evacuee camps run by the Bihar Relief Committee at Thakurbari on the West Dinajpur border of West Bengal, according to a report received at the Committee headquarters in Patna on Wednesday morning. There was however no casualty. About 70,000 Bangladesh evacuees are camping at Thakurbari.
Our own correspondent at Mathabhanga writes : Incessant shillings and heavy mortar firings have been started by the Pakistani Army on Indian villages of Gachhtilla, Phulbari, West Sitalkuchi, Rajarbari, Gandopotha and Sitalkuchi. Many panic-stricken people have left homes and many have been hospitalized with shell injuries. Loss of lives of many cattle and goats are reported. Five Pakistani spies have been arrested so far.
Our own correspondent at Dhupguri writes : Indian people living at border villages of Barunpara and Pakirpara near Choulhati in the Rajganj thana area have become panicky following continuous firing by the Pakistani Army from Amar Khana side of Dinajpur sector. People of those villages are now moving into the interior for safety. Weekly ‘hat’ of Chocolate could not be held this week. It is learnt that the Pakistani Army has taken their position at Amarkhana and it is feared that they may start firing on Indian villages. Choulbati, any time.
About 90 Pakistani Army men on board a mortar launch were drowned in Latalia near Mathabhanga village in Comilla district when the launch was ambushed early this week by a guerilla unit of the Bangladesh liberation forces according to a report received from across the border. adds UNI.
Reports on intensified guerilla activities by the Mukti Fouj have reached the information Bureau of the eastern zone of Bangladesh from the riverine district of Faridpur. In different actions last week, 30 Pakistani troops, two collaborators and seven policemen were killed. Mukti Fauj guerillas also attacked three police stations and destroyed three wireless sets in Faridpur, the reports added.
Three non-Bengali policemen were killed when the guerillas attacked Patong police station. The guerillas destroyed one wireless set and captured nine fully loaded rifles. They also destroyed about 600 country made guns, deposited at the police station on the direction of the Martial Law Administration. Another wireless set was destroyed by the guerilla fighters at Sibehar in Madaripur subdivision of Faridpur district. One collaborator was killed.
