Pak soldier surrenders to Indian forces
NEW DELHI, JULY 4 – Syed Ataullah Shah, a Pathan subaltern of the Pakistan Army, who recently crossed over to India in the eastern sector and surrendered to the Indian security forces, has said that before they left for East Bengal, West Pakistani troops had clear orders to shoot to kill, if they encountered any resistance to the crack-down, reports UNI.
Mr. Shah said that Pathan troops who were in Bangladesh, had no idea when they left West Pakistan that they were going to fight the unarmed people of East
Bengal. They were told by the Pakistani military authorities that they were going to fight Indians who were attacking Pakistan.
He said that this was not the first time that Pathan soldiers had been deceived in this manner. The Pakistan Army he said used aircraft, recoilless guns and heavy artillery against the unarmed people of East Bengal.
