Mukti Fauj intensifies guerilla activity

AGARTALA, JUNE 11- The liberation forces yesterday hoisted the Bangladesh flag in Comilla town and intensified their guerilla activities.
Following this martial law authorities imposed a 72-hour curfew on Comilla town and started mass arrests.
Reports reaching here from across the border said that the liberation forces hurled hand-grenades at the National Bank of Pakistan, the Muslim Commercial Bank, the Habib Bank Limited the judge court and the public hall.
The Mukti Fauj commandos also blew up a railway engine in the southern part of Comilla.
According to another report the power house of Brahmanbaria in Comilla district was damaged when BanglaDesh forces attacked it with grenades.
The Mukti Fauj inflicted heavy casualties on the Pakistani soldiers in Comilla and Sylhet districts. Twenty-eight Pakistani soldiers were killed by the BanglaDesh freedom fighters at Manipur, Fakirhat and Miya Bazar areas of Comilla district.
Eleven Pakistani soldiers, including an officer, were also killed when the liberation forces armed with mortars and machine-gun launched a fresh attack against the Pakistani troops at Mirzapur area in Sylhet district. Two Pakistani jeeps were completely destroyed when Mukti Fouj guerillas shelled them in Feni subdivision of Noakhali.
The liberation army has now launched an offensive all over the eastern zone to BanglaDesh, the commanding major of the southern sectors told a press party who visited a “fighting point” in BanglaDesh.
The major in a relaxed mood was briefing newsmen about the gains of the liberation forces. He said the occupation forces launched a counter attack following its setback on Saturday night at the hands of the Mukti Fauj.
