Daily arrival of evacuees 42,000 ·
By A Staff Reporter, During the last fortnight, the average daily arrival of Bangladesh evacuees into West Bengal has been 42,000. So far about 6,109 m. evacuees have taken shelter in the State. Out of them 4,158 m. are in Government camps and 1,951 m. with their friends and relatives. About 194,000 refugees have been sent outside the State.
A State Government spokesman, who gave this information on Thursday, said during the last fortnight again three trains had been running daily with the result that nearly 45,000 refugees had been dispersed. On Thursday, however, only two trains left with refugees, one from Sealdah and the other from Bongaon.
Over 6,000 refugees from the Sahara and the Sector one camps of Salt Lake he said, would be immediately removed to Jamboni in Midnapore where camps were ready for them.
