East Germany’s anxiety for evacuees

EAST BERLIN, JULY 17. – East German Foreign Minister, Otto Winzer, has sent a letter to United Nations Secretary-General, U Thant, expressing concern over the fate of Bangladesh refugees, the East German news agency, ADN, reported here today, reports Reuter.
Herr Winzer said the East German Government shared the concern expressed by U Thant in appeals made on May 21 and June 16.
He said in the letter that aid sent to India for the refugees last month by the East German Government was worth 1.12 million marks and consisted of medicines, cholera vaccinations, tents, blankets, textiles, household goods and other materials.
The letter was handed yesterday to the Chairman of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in Geneva by East German envoy, Siegfried Zachmann. ADN said.
