Pakistan treats evacuees as criminals
MUJIBNAGAR, JUNE 27. – Despite the “drum beating” by the Yahya regime asking the Bangladesh evacuees to return to their homes the Pakistani military junta considers it a crime for anybody to take refuge in India for safety, says PTI.
In Rural village, Sylhet, some evacuees on their way back home were shot dead by the Army without any provocation on June 24, It was a crime to take refuge in India as it “tarnished our image” the Pakistani troops remarked.
This story was related to the Mukti Fauj Command by some people who escaped the guns of the Pakistani Army and came over to the liberated areas.
The Santhal tribes in Bangladesh have become a special target of atrocities at the hands of the Pakistani troops. According to reports the troops recently burnt 4,000 huts of Santhals in Dinajpur district.
The Army authorities are stated to be feeling increasingly frustrated with the lack of cooperation from the people even at gun-point.
Some of the Muslim Leaguers who were given arms by the troops have taken to dacoity and looting.
