From Our Staff Correspondent, SILIGURI, May 21 Cholera has broken out in epidemic form in almost all the 54 camps for Bangladesh refugees in Malda district. The district authorities who have already apprised the State Government of this alarming situation make it clear that the actual number of deaths is more than double the official figure which was 50 last Wednesday. It is declared that the disease has taken a toll of 100 to 125 lives.
There is also acute scarcity of drinking water in the evacuee camps. The district authorities have asked for the supply of 500 tubewells of which only 100 have been made available so far.
