Scindias to start Indo-Bangla services soon
DACCA, JAN. 5- The scindia Steam Navigation Company is to resume shipping services shortly between India and Bangladesh ports, PTI reports.
This was stated by Mr. P. T. Dalal, manager of the Scindias in Bombay after several rounds of meetings with the Acting President of Bangladesh Syed Nazrul Islam, the Communications Minister Sheikh Abdul Aziz and Bangladesh Government officials during the last few days.
Mr. Dalal said that he had detailed discussions on the restoration of cargo services which were stopped in 1955 following Indo-Pak hostilities then.
He said he would submit specific proposals to the Communications Minister in this regard today.
| Mr. Aziz, according to Mr. Dalal, expressed the hope that traffic between India and Bangladesh would start as soon as Chalna and Chittagong ports were ready to receive ships.
Mr. Dalal will visit Chittagong and Chalna within a day or two for an on-the spot study of the situation.
