Dacca dailies resume, managers go into hiding

DACCA, DEC. 21- “Morning News” staunch advocate of the Pakistani military regime, which closed down following the surrender of the occupying Army, resumed publication on Sunday hailing liberation of Bangladesh under banner headlines, reports PTI.
The size of the paper has, however, been reduced to only two pages. The publication was resumed by the staff. The pro-Pakistani Editor and the managerial staff are reported to have gone into hiding.
Another pro-Pakistani Bengali newspaper “Dainik Pakistan” has also resumed publication under the name “Dainik Bangladesh” with a big cross sign over the word “Pakistan”.
The most popular news paper is the pro-Awami League Bengali daily, “Ittefak” whose machinery and building were bombed and burned down by the Pakistani Army.
The paper has resumed publication from the half demolished building with a human skull on display at the courtyard- said to be one of the several staff, who were killed in the Pakistani attack on the building.
